# Elementary OSS

**Elementary OSS is a CLI tool that works alongside the [Elementary dbt package](https://docs.elementary-data.com/data-tests/dbt/dbt-package.md).** With the dbt package, you gain powerful anomaly detection tests and metadata tables to monitor data quality trends over time.

> Elementary OSS covers a single dbt project. The CLI reads the schema created by the Elementary dbt package, so it runs as part of that project. To cover more than one project, or to connect a data warehouse without dbt, use the [Elementary Cloud Platform](https://docs.elementary-data.com/cloud/introduction.md).

By deploying the CLI, you can **send alerts and self-host the Elementary data observability report**, a comprehensive view of your dbt runs and all dbt test results, helping you track data lineage, test coverage, and overall pipeline health.
